Terms of use

The deal between you and us, in plain English. Your codes are yours, Free is free, and here’s what we each look after.

Last updated: [DATE - Ismail to add on launch]

About these terms

These terms cover the Twincode Authenticator browser extension, the Send from phone service and this website, all run by [BUSINESS NAME - Ismail to add], [BUSINESS ADDRESS - Ismail to add, a virtual address rather than home] (“we”, “us”), company number [COMPANY NUMBER, if a company - Ismail to add, or remove this line]. By using Twincode, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

What Twincode is

Twincode keeps copies of your 2FA accounts in your browser, locked on your computer, and shows the same codes as your phone. Send from phone passes sealed files from your phone to your computer through our relay. Twincode copies your accounts once: it isn’t linked to your phone, and it doesn’t replace the security settings of the sites you use.

Twincode Free

Free costs nothing, has no limit on accounts and needs no sign-up. Nothing in Free will be moved behind a paid plan later.

Twincode Plus

Plus isn’t on sale yet. Before it is, we’ll add the terms for paid plans here, including prices, renewals and cancelling. Our refund promise already applies.

What you look after

  • Your password, recovery code and backups. We can’t reset your password or open your codes, so if you lose both your password and your recovery code, we can’t get your codes back. Keep your recovery code and backup files safe, away from your computer.
  • Your other ways in. Keep your phone’s copy of your codes and each site’s backup codes, so you can still sign in if you lose your computer.
  • Your own accounts. Only add accounts that belong to you, or that you’re allowed to use.
  • Fair use of our servers. Don’t try to overload, attack or get around the limits of Send from phone or our other services, or use them for anything other than sending your own files to your own computer.

Your codes stay yours

We claim no rights over anything you keep in Twincode. You can export your accounts at any time, free, and that will never change. If Plus ends, nothing is locked or deleted.

Keeping Twincode running

Your codes are made on your computer, so they keep working without our servers. Send from phone and the clock check need our servers, and while we work to keep them running, we can’t promise they’ll never be interrupted. We may switch a feature off for a while to protect people, for example if we find a security problem.

If Twincode ever closes, a final update will unlock every Plus feature for everyone.

If something goes wrong

We build Twincode carefully, but no software is perfect. As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for losses caused by things outside our control, or by losing your password, recovery code or backups.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit. Your legal rights as a consumer aren’t affected.

Stopping

You can stop using Twincode at any time by removing it from your browser. Export your accounts first if you want to keep a copy. We may stop anyone who misuses our servers from using them.

Changes, law and contact

If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. These terms are governed by [GOVERNING LAW - Ismail to confirm: England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland]. Questions? Email support@gettwincode.com.
